Violation Fees in place for Non-Containerized Garbage (City Council Goal #3)
Effective July 1, 2017
Posted Date: 6/14/2017 7:00 AM

Residents of Lexington, we need your help!  To improve the health, safety and welfare of our citizens, maximize cost effectiveness of automated waste collection services, and to increase the overall cleanliness of the City of Lexington, City Council has adopted new violation fees for non-containerized garbage collection.

  • All garbage must be bagged and placed inside the green container with the lid closed.
  • All recyclables should be loose and placed inside the blue container with the lid closed.

Educational outreach has begun and citizens will be given an opportunity to comply with all regulations set forth in the City's Code of Ordinances, Chapter 10.  The implementation of violation fees are to encourage citizens to assist in the responsibility and ownership for a cleaner community to live, play and visit.  The enforcement of containerized garbage and recyclables makes progress towards one of the City Council's Top 10 Goals for 2017-2018 to "Focus efforts on improving the City's appearance" - Goal #3.

WARNING VIOLATION NOTICES WILL BE PLACED ON CONTAINER(S)

FINAL VIOLATION NOTICES WILL RESULT IN A MINIMUM FEE OF $350
