Excitement fills the area in October -- not just for the upcoming Barbecue Festival on October 27th but also for the cleanup and removal of the bricks and debris in the Lexington Historic Depot District.
The aftermath of one of the largest fires in Lexington's history occurring on December 19, 2017, has been a constant reminder of what "used to be". City leaders are focusing on the "future" of the Depot District and cleanup of this area is at the forefront of their minds.
Significant progress will be made in time for the 35th Annual Lexington Barbecue Festival slated for October 27, 2018. Plans are in process to have the area fully cleared by the end of the calendar year.
