The mission of the Lexington Fire Department is to provide the community with quality fire, safety and disaster mitigation services utilizing recognized industry standards as benchmarks for success.
The Lexington Fire Department provides fire and safety protection to the community 24 hours a day. Services include: rescue services, hazardous material abatement, medical response and education and fire code compliance programs. To protect these interests, the Lexington Fire Department currently deploys firefighters out of three strategically located fire stations within the city.
Staffing is comprised of firefighting professionals in command and operations. Additionally, the department maintains mutual aid relationships with nearby organizations to augment the city force.
The Fire department was awarded a North Carolina Department of Insurance Fire Protection class two rating in November of 2017.
