The City of Lexington is seeking a Natural Gas Apprentice to join our team of utility professionals. We are a dynamic organization, offering excellent benefits and opportunities to the right people. Also, while we will train entry level candidates, experience in the natural gas industry is a definite plus.

Attributes of our ideal candidates: flexible and adaptable in order to perform the necessary tasks of a growing utility; team oriented with a willingness to learn from and teach others; aptitude and desire to learn new equipment and technology; attention to detail; ability to take initiative and make reasonable judgement decisions; ability to deal with others in a collaborative and honest manner; an effective listener with the ability to communicate across diverse characteristics of the workforce; and the ability to work safely in all environments and on flexible schedules.

Performs (as a member of a crew) responsible semi-skilled and skilled work in the construction, installation, maintenance and repair of the City’s N atural Gas facilities.

This position provides a vertical career ladder opportunity that may allow the selected candidate to advance to a higher job title and pay with obtaining of additional knowledge, skills, abilities, responsibilities and experience during the course of employment.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from high school or GED
Valid NC driver’s license and good driving record

Work Schedule

Monday - Friday 8am-4:30pm. Paid bi-weekly.

On call, work in all environments.
