Athletics
Lexington Parks and Recreation Department offers a variety of quality athletic programs to over 600 youth participants each year, as well as adults. Our goal is to provide an educational environment where kids are able to learn and develop necessary skills for the sport they are playing. We also look to provide sports for adults, both through leagues and organized pick up games. Want to get involved, or see us offer another sport? Let us know!
YOUTH SOCCER
Our youth soccer league is done jointly with the J Smith Young YMCA, and is for boys and girls ages 3-12. The Spring season takes place between September and October, with weekday and weekend practices. The fall season will take place between March and May, with weekday and weekend practices. Kids will learn the values of team sports and soccer fundamentals while competing in a fun and positive environment.
YOUTH BASKETBALL
Our youth basketball league is done jointly with the J Smith Young YMCA, and is for boys and girls ages 5-12. The season takes place between December and February, with weekday and weekend practices.
YOUTH BASEBALL
Participants will learn the fundamentals of baseball and the values of team sports all while having fun in a positive environment. All players will receive a full uniform as part of their registration. This age group will meet on weekdays and weekends for practices and games (specific days based on registration numbers and field availability).
ADULT SOFTBALL
Games will be held on weeknights at Finch Park. You might say... but I have kids... to which we say, BRING EM! Check out the large playground right beside the field that the kids will love, bring them on then let them play while you do the same. Find some friends and get your team together, or sign up as an individual and look to meet some new friends!
GIRL'S LACROSSE
We are excited to partner with the Davidson Youth Lacrosse Association. The program is designed to develop girl’s youth lacrosse throughout the county, and will give girls the opportunity to learn the game, and compete against teams from around the Triad.
SKATEBOARDING
Is your kid looking to take their skating to the next level? A seasoned skating instructor will guide them through skills like dropping in, ollies, kick turn, pump, and other skills. This is a group lesson, but skaters will be given instruction based on their current ability so not every skill will be addressed in each session. Skaters must provide their own equipment (helmet, elbow and knee pads) and wear closed toe shoes.
SPORTS SAMPLERS
Let your little one try baseball, soccer, and football! This class explores the basic skills and techniques of each sport, without having to commit to a full season, or worry about competition!
Weather Hotline
Add our weather hotline to your phone, 336-248-3969. Also, join our Facebook Group that is strictly for athletics. We post updates about schedules, standings, weather and league information, and pictures and videos of action! Hope to see you there! #activefirst
