Post Date:10/30/2024 9:38 AM

Leaf collection is important to the city and our residents. Leaf collection plays a vital function of keeping Lexington clean and beautiful. Leaf collection is in effect for Lexington residents, with Recycling and Waste visiting each residence four times throughout the leaf collection season. The four stops per residence establishes us as one of the leaders in leaf collection frequency per residence compared to neighboring communities. The day that recycling and waste collects your leaves is dependent on what your garbage collection day is.

If your garbage collection day is on Tuesday or Wednesday, your collection periods are listed below:

October 28, 2024 - November 10, 2024

November 25, 2024- December 8, 2024

December 23, 2024 - January 5, 2025

January 20, 2025 - February 2, 2025

If your garbage collection day is on Thursday or Friday, your collection periods are listed below:

November 11, 2024 - November 24, 2024

December 9, 2024 - December 22, 2024

January 6, 2025 - January 19, 2025

February 3, 2025 - February 16, 2025

Leaf Collection Guidelines

There are guidelines in place to ensure that the city is able to pick up your leaves. They are established to protect city equipment and our environment during leaf collection. Failure to follow these guidelines can lead to the city bypassing your residence and not collecting your leaves. In order to make sure your leaves are eligible to be picked up and prevent your residence being skipped, please follow the following guidelines.

- Please make sure that your leaves are free of tree shrub limbs or foreign objects; doing so can lead to damaging city equipment. If you have yard waste and debris that need to be collected, please place them in your brown yard waste bins that are collected weekly.

- For safety and environmental protection reasons, please keep your leaves away from storm drains, mailboxes and parked cars.

- Do not bag your leaves. The city is unable to collect leaves that are bagged.

 - Residence are encouraged to set their leaves out before the beginning of their collection period. For example, if your leaf collection period begins, on November 25, your leaves should be on the curb by November 24. Our crews begin work in the early morning on the first day of leaf collection periods.
