North Davidson Veterinary Hospital (NDVH) has donated Medical Emergency First Aid Backpacks to K-9 units of the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO) and the Lexington Police Department (LPD). Doctor Joseph Breland at NDVH inquired with the LPD and DCSO about what additional items could support them taking care of their K-9 in the event of an emergency.

After speaking with officers, NDVH saw a need for these K-9 units to have a medical emergency first aid backpack filled with essential items to treat the K-9’s until veterinary care could be administered. The K-9 logo embroidering on the backpacks was generously donated by Midway Screen Printing. The backpacks themselves were donated by Merck. Contents of each bag were donated by Virbac, Purina and NDVH.

The backpacks contain a tarp for a sterile treatment area, wound sterilization items, bandage wraps, gloves, gauze, medical tape, tweezers, antibiotic cream, eye wash, and a host of other supplies. Thank you to NDVH, Virbac, Purina, Merck and Midway Screen Printing for your support of the Lexington Police Department.
