Business Development: Collaborates with partner agencies, brokers, commercial property owners, developers and professional recruiters to attract new commercial, retail, and restaurant businesses, provide support to existing businesses and assist local entrepreneurs in opening targeted businesses. To support business development, the City of Lexington provides for the posting of privately-owned commercial and industrial properties for lease or sale. A Chrome or Firefox browser is required for the following business tools:

Redevelopment: Intricately involved with numerous projects within the Depot District, including the progress towards re-establishing passenger rail service. The BCD Office is experienced with working with State and Federal agencies to obtain required approvals and permits. Community Development: Works with partners, such as the Home Solutions of Davidson County and Habitat for Humanity, to develop short and long-range neighborhood and community improvement plans. Seeks grant funding and administers revitalization efforts. Provides staff support to the Appearance Commission. The City of Lexington has procedures in place to ensure rights are protected and to promote fair housing.
Planning, Zoning and Land Use: Maintains and enforces the City's Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) and provides staff support to the Planning Board/Board of Adjustment.
